Build a project brief

Answer a few questions about who will use the software, what you use today, and what the first version must accomplish. The page writes a brief you can copy into an email. It runs in your browser and does not store what you type.

A finished brief names four things: the kind of project, the person who uses it, the workaround it replaces, and the outcome of version one. Tick the checklist so the open questions are visible before a call, not after a quote. The longer explanation of why these questions matter is in how to brief a software project.

Your brief

Add a first outcome and tick at least two checklist items. The brief updates as you go.

Project brief

Project type: Marketing website
Who uses it: Customers or the public
What exists today: A sheet, notebook, or chat
Timing preference: Not sure yet

First outcome:
(still blank — write the one result the first version must produce)

Already clear:
- Nothing ticked yet

Still open:
- I can name the main pages a stranger should open
- I know the one action a visitor should take
- I have real photos, registration details, or work to show
- I know who owns the domain

What to do with the brief

  1. Read the “still open” list. If a line is something only your team knows, answer it before you send the brief.
  2. Read the first outcome to the person who will use the software. If they disagree, change the sentence.
  3. Send it from the contact page or to hr@jantarax.com. A timing preference is not a quote.
